Newcastle Arms.

Tyneside "Pub of the Year"

2006, 2007 & 2008.

A very warm welcome is extended to all patrons, visitors and guests from the management and staff of the Newcastle Arms, multi-award winning real ale house. Under the tenancy of experienced publican, Neil Amos since April 2005, we have endeavoured to transform this traditional and historic watering hole back to its original status as one of Tyneside's premier cask ale outlets.

In recognition of our achievements, CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) has awarded us their much-coveted "Tyneside Pub Of The Year" accolade for 3 out of the last 5 years (2006, 2007 & 2008) and after a close vote, has just recently credited us as the region's runner-up for 2010. www.camra.org.uk

In addition to these prestigious awards, we are also proud to be nominated as Newcastle's No.1 public house by the magnificently discerning editors of the cult www.theburglarsdog.co.uk, a local and independent organisation that reviews and reports upon more than 350 licensed premises within Newcastle City Centre. A brief synopsis of their work would be to say that Mark and his intrepid band of hard-drinking colleagues scour the length & breadth of Tyneside, Egon Ronay style, to assess and catalogue our region's seemingly endless quota of nefarious bars and taverns. The permanently inebriated band of scallywags then proceed to heap much deserved criticism upon approx 95% of all bars surveyed, leaving a few selected top-quality boozers such as ours, to lap up all the acclaim.

HOW TO FIND US

BY METRO - Nearest stop is St.James (1min). Head out the main entrance, down the bank, cross over Gallowgate and you will see us dead ahead just beyond the Chinese archway. Alteratively from Monument (3mins) walk up Blackett St., past Old Eldon Square. At the lights head over to St. Andrews church and turn right just before the Co-Op. www.nexus.org.uk

BY RAIL - For visitors arriving at Newcastle's Central Station (5mins) head out the front exit, across Neville St, bear left and walk up Pink Lane. Go straight past the Forth Pub, over Clayton St. & continue up the lane. Cross to the Tyne News shop, follow the old city wall on your right for 100 yds, turn right onto Stowell St. & we are at the far end just round the corner from Rosie's Bar. www.nationalexpresseastcoast.com

BY CAR A visit by car should be the easiest of tasks due to an abundance of cheap, nearby public parking, including NCP on Stowell St. & the St.James' Metro car park on Gallowgate. However due to the council's latest, bizarre traffic mis-management scheme, it now takes the ordinary motorist approximately 5hrs to travel from Haymarket to Gallowgate. We therefore recommend local public transport, which has the additional benefit that you may consume far more alcohol (in a responsible fashion of course).
